Open Source Merch

Posted 24 days ago

This is a living post that I hope will document my adventures into what different merchy things we can create to give away for Open Source projects! Some things have been brought, but as much as possible I hope to make things myself and collaborate with other makers.

Stickers

I can probably best describe stickers as the gateway drug to creating things. I love sticker culture and it’s probably the thing I most want to always have on hand to share with others.

Diginate

I'm not sponsored by Diginate, but they've been incredibly helpful in my mission to give away as many stickers as possible, so I'm eternally grateful. I can't recommend them enough if you want custom stickers, posters, prints, and more 💙

Sticker Books

The most common thing I hear from people not wanting a sticker is that they don’t want or have space to put it on their laptop. Let’s assume you don’t want to decorate your walls with stickers, well what can you do with them? For me this is sticker books - they’re made of sticker paper so you can move them anytime and they serve as a beautiful time capsule of where you’ve been and who you’ve met. I think I’m on my 5th or 6th and I’d love to make a website at some point to make them searchable.

Creating Stickers

Aside from getting stickers from a company like Diginate, I’ve finally started the journey of making my own stickers. As I write this I’ve only printed two sheets so far with mixed but very promising results, and so I hope to do a proper writeup on it soon - for now checkout this Bluesky post:
